Sustainable Anarchy

Although anarchy is often associated with political or social disorder, we look at it through a different lens. Where sustainable anarchy is concerned, we believe in the right to make a positive difference to society by breaking the bonds of bureaucracy where it slows sustainable innovation and implementation, while complying with the requirements and spirit of legislation and regulations.

In this regard, we favour the right to be self-regulating, building community consensus to deliver and drive sustainable gain.

Taking action to realise sustaiable gain:
We advocate taking action to bring about sustainable gain. We call for a change in the planning/permitting process that will enable Britain to be at the forefront of the eco-revolution, becoming an enabler of sustainable solutions. In so doing, we can more actively contribute to the Net Zero agenda stemming the current climate crisis. If we are to keep global warming below 2C by the end of the century, sustainable change is necessary now.

Where this is held back by dated systems, we call for popular pressure to change policy and encourage a more sustainable society: one where everything required to sustain life within the local Sustain Circle is produced and bought locally, only expanding to regional circles, then national circles of service as increasingly specialist products, services, or solutions demand.

Encouraging the passing of greater control to local communities, we believe that Sustainable Anarchy has the power to effect change, both through the actions of supporters calling for a local self-sufficiency, and through the actions of businesses and organisations that are willing to take action now, rather than be held back by statutory timeframes and bureaucratic process.

Accelerating sustainable solutions at pace:

While we do not advocate the disregard of necessary and proper regulation, we do champion the right to progress sustainable solutions without being held back by unreasonable bureaucracy, red tape and unnecessary process.

In this regard, we rail against the shackles of the planning and permitting process where administrative checks can delay works by years before compliance and impact are even reviewed. The bureaucratic process is not fit for purpose, and actively prevents environmentally beneficial innovation and implementation from bringing about positive effect.

Putting pressure on Government to realise more sustainable future:
Our call is for the new Labour Government, which is advocating renewable energy, and energy independence, to look more closely at existing alternative energy sources and recycled resources, and to free up the planning/permitting process to fast-track such sustainable solutions,

We also call for Labour’s net zero economy commitment, where businesses of all sizes are required to decarbonise, to include wider support for local self-sufficiency in line with Sustain Britain’s vision for the future; where local supply chains deliver better sustainability than global alternatives. We will not deliver de-carbonation by false market making and trading, delivering benefits only for bankers and city traders.

Time will tell, but where change is not forthcoming, sustainable anarchy will be necessary, holding government to account, and effecting change. In the absence of change, it will be down to individuals, groups and businesses to take control into their hands to effect sustainable change at pace, unhindered by outdated bureaucracy.
