Sustain Cirlces
Our vision:
The foundations for the Sustain Britain movement are centred on the belief that greater self-sufficiency lies at the heart of a more sustainable society, in which as much as possible should be produced, sold and enjoyed locally.
It centres on drawing Circles around communities, regions, and countries to drive innovation to meet requirements from within those circles. Only by encouraging businesses to look more closely at the circle of opportunity that exists locally, can we create more connected and innovative solutions that will benefit local communities, and the local economy.
Better solutions to a global problem:
Providing a practical and preferable alternative to offshore manufacturers, or those transporting goods from a distance, the Sustain Circles Model aims to encourage more manufacturing closer to home, lifting productivity and wealth generation, challenging multinationals for market share, and preventing the current flow of money to global financial centres, which has so often led to the exploitation of both resources and people around the globe.
By choosing to grow, manufacture and sell more within our local, and regional economies, there will be greater accountability, responsibility, and local employment, enhancing wealth within local communities and reducing pollution caused by unnecessary food and product miles. This will also enable repair and refurbishment.
Local solutions to a national challenge:
Requiring a change of mindset, the Sustain Circles Model focuses on producing and delivering as much as possible locally.
Only where this is not possible would markets extend to more specialist products and services from surrounding regional Sustain Circles. Beyond that, where manufacturers and businesses have specialist knowledge, skills and resources that cannot be reasonably replicated at the local level or regional level, would producers with a national Sustain Circle deliver necessary resources, products, and services.
The challenge ahead:
The challenge for all is to think how we can - as a local, regional or national businesses - do more to serve our communities, to meet their needs, and to compete with international competitors by providing a better, and more local solution first.
This is where we need to refocus the minds of businesses and society to adopt and embrace the Sustain Circles Model, where everything required to sustain life lifestyle within the local circle is produced and bought locally, only expanding to regional circles, then national circles as increasingly specialist products, services, or solutions demand. In this way, the needs of communities will be met at every level providing a more sustainable, more independent future for all, where more money is earnt and retained locally.
